Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

When you first open AllerGuide, you'll be guided through a setup flow where you can select all of your allergens from a list of 25+. You can update these at any time from the Profile tab — just tap any allergen to toggle it on or off.

Yes — you can browse dishes and explore the app as a guest. Creating an account (free) lets you save your allergen profile so it persists across devices and app reinstalls, and unlocks the AI chat and phrase translation features.

On the sign-up or sign-in screen, tap "Continue with Apple." You'll be prompted by iOS to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. If you choose to hide your email, Apple will provide a private relay address — AllerGuide works fine with either.

Allergen Information

AllerGuide's dish data is based on typical, traditional recipes. Actual ingredients vary by restaurant, chef, and region — so while we flag known allergens in standard preparations, you should always verify with restaurant staff before eating. AllerGuide is an informational tool, not a medical device.

AllerGuide covers 25+ allergens including peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten, sesame, crustaceans, molluscs, fish, soybeans, mustard, celery, lupin, sulfites, pork, and more — including less common ones like beehive products, buckwheat, and specific fruits.

Because recipes vary. A dish that's typically peanut-free may be prepared with peanut oil at a specific restaurant. AllerGuide gives you the best available general information, but cross-contamination and recipe variations are real — always confirm with the kitchen.

AllerGuide Pro

Pro unlocks unlimited AI chat conversations and the ability to save allergy phrase cards for offline use. The free plan includes a limited number of AI messages per month and access to the full dish database.

AllerGuide Pro is billed through Apple. To cancel, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find AllerGuide, and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Go to your Profile tab and tap "Restore Purchases." This syncs your subscription status from Apple. If the issue persists after restoring, email us at hello@allerguide.app with your Apple ID and we'll sort it out.

Privacy & Data

Yes. Your allergen profile is stored securely and encrypted. We do not sell your health data to any third parties, ever. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Email hello@allerguide.app with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll permanently delete your account and all associated data within 7 days.
